Seyf al-Din Murtaza Shafiq al-Suweirki: A Child's Life Stolen by War

Seyf al-Din Murtaza Shafiq al-Suweirki, a young child of only  2 years old, began his life with a pain beyond his understanding. On October 7th, at the start of the devastating events in Gaza, Seyf lost his father, who had been his primary provider and the pillar of support in his innocent childhood.

The tragedy didn’t stop with the loss of his father. The family home was completely destroyed in the bombing, taking with it all that once represented safety and happy memories. Seyf became a refugee with his mother, living with his uncle, in harsh and difficult conditions.

As a child of his age, Seyf doesn’t understand why he suffers from hunger at night, why he no longer gets the sweets he loved, or why there is no longer a safe place for him to play. He is a young orphan in need not only of food and care, but of the love and tenderness his father once gave him.

His story reflects the words of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "I and the sponsor of an orphan are like this in Paradise" (and he pointed with his two fingers). Sponsoring a child like Seyf is not just a humanitarian duty, but a path to divine mercy and great reward.

Sponsoring Seyf, whether materially or emotionally, can be a beacon of hope for him in the darkness. It offers a chance to alleviate his suffering and restore a semblance of joy to his innocent life.
