Rafiq and the New Hope

In one of Gaza’s neighbourhoods, there lived a little girl named Rafiq Ashraf Hilal Abu Al-Lail. She was six years old, but she possessed wisdom beyond her years. She always smiled despite the difficulties around her. Her heart was filled with hope, and her eyes sparkled with curiosity about the world around her.

Rafiq lives with her family in a small house in a neighbourhood full of beautiful memories and warm family voices. But over time, the sounds of explosions began to grow closer, and the war came to their doorstep. At first, Rafiq was frightened, but she learned from her mother to be brave and that hope could make them stronger in the toughest times.

One day, the war suddenly swept through their neighbourhood. The sounds of bombing and falling debris were everywhere, and everyone was in a state of panic. The family rushed to the nearest shelter for safety. While Rafiq held her mother’s hand, she felt worried for her family but remembered her mother’s words: "There will be no fear as long as we have hope in our hearts."

In the shelter, Rafiq saw the other children crying, and when she saw the sadness in their eyes, she smiled and said, "Everything will be alright, as long as we hold on to hope." Her words brought a sense of calm to the room, reminding everyone that hope can light up even the darkest moments.

Days passed, and the neighbourhood gradually began to calm. People returned to their homes, and despite the destruction around them, Rafiq led her friends in playing among the ruins, smiling, reassuring them that life would return to normal and that the hope in their hearts would keep them moving forward.

Rafiq grew up carrying with her a message of hope and courage. When she was asked one day about the secret behind her constant smile, despite everything, she simply replied: "Hope is our strength, and it is what keeps us alive. It’s what makes us smile even in the hardest times."
