Hamdi is a child who has not yet reached his first year and was born in the Northern Gaza Strip amidst the harsh conditions caused by the war. His childhood was not like that of other children, as he grew up under the painful loss of his father, who was martyred in one of the attacks. Hamdi’s father meant everything to him: safety, affection, and play, but the war took that dream away from him.

On the 7th of October, Gaza witnessed the start of the war that changed everyone’s life, especially Hamdi's. His father was one of the victims of that war, martyred in one of the attacks while trying to secure a better life for his family. Although Hamdi was too young to fully understand the meaning of loss, his father’s absence deeply affected the entire family.

Hamdi's mother faced great difficulty in meeting his and his siblings’ needs after the loss of her husband. The hope for a better life began to fade in the midst of their difficult circumstances, but she tried tirelessly to provide all the love and care she could for her children. She exerted every effort to provide for their basic needs, despite the many challenges they faced.

Despite his suffering and the loss of his father, Hamdi tried to live in the love and affection provided by his siblings and mother. His mother would tell him about his father’s bravery and sacrifices for them, assuring him that she would continue to strive to help him grow up in a better world, despite everything they had lost.

Hamdi’s story is one of many stories of children who face immense hardships because of war. It represents the suffering of families who lost everything in an instant, but it also embodies the hope to keep going and moving forward despite all the pain.
