Sham Nael Yousef Al-Arabi, a little girl not yet ten years old, lived with her large family in a modest home filled with love and warmth despite their difficult circumstances. Sham loved playing with her siblings and grandparents and eagerly awaited her father’s return home every evening, sitting beside him to share her small dreams.

However, the war, which shows no mercy to anyone, intruded into their lives with its brutality. One dark night, as the family slept, a massive explosion shattered their home. Everyone woke up in fear, but there was no safe place to run. Sham’s father tried to calm them, but the bombing was relentless and swift, causing the house to collapse on top of them.

When Sham regained consciousness amidst the rubble and dust, she couldn’t comprehend what had happened. She called out in a trembling voice for her mother, then for her father and siblings, but no one answered. She felt utterly alone and cold, with tears streaming down her face.

Hours later, rescue workers were able to pull her from beneath the debris. She was the sole survivor of her family. Sham became an orphan without a home, carrying the heavy pain of losing her loved ones and the memories of them that would never return.

Despite the sadness that overshadowed her life, Sham remained a symbol of resilience. She would always say that she wanted to become an engineer one day, to build safe homes for children, so no one would have to live through the fear and loss she had experienced.
