Sama and the New Hope
In one of Gaza’s neighbourhoods, filled with beautiful memories and simple stories, there lives a little girl named Sama Mohammed Nahed Al-Batsh. Sama was seven years old, and her heart was full of innocence, with a smile that never left her face. Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding her, Sama was always overflowing with hope and ambition.
Sama loves playing with her friends in the narrow streets, even though war and destruction looms over everything. She has a big dream of becoming an engineer in the future, building houses and dreams amidst the rubble left by the wars. She often imagines herself building beautiful and safe cities when peace would prevail in her homeland.
One day, their neighbourhood was subjected to intense bombing, and destruction surrounded everything. Sama was at home with her mother, and her mother took her hand and led her to the shelter along with her little sister. Despite the fear that gripped everyone, Sama remembered her mother’s words, which she had said repeatedly: "No matter the circumstances, never lose hope, for you are capable of overcoming any difficulty."
While in the shelter, Sama saw other children crying. When they looked at her, she smiled and said, "Everything will be fine, as long as there is hope in our hearts." Her words filled the space with calm, as though the hope in her heart had spread to others. The children started to calm down, remembering that hope in life is what helps us continue to face difficulties.
Days passed, and as the situation gradually calmed down, Sama and her family returned to their destroyed home. But this time, Sama felt different; she began helping her mother organize the house and rebuild it, even if only in small ways. Whenever they faced difficulty, she smiled and said, "This is a new beginning, and we are stronger than ever."
Sama grew up carrying the message of hope and resilience in her heart, and when she became an engineer, her childhood dream of building beautiful places came true. She knew that it was hope that made her stand strong and face difficulties, and it was hope that helped her build a better world for herself and those around her.
